What's in a Name?
Most people laugh when they first hear the name of our company. The next most common reaction is for them to assume that "Popo" means either police or dare I say, something their Hoboken neighbor left behind when walking their dog. Although both good guesses, the name Clean Popo actually has roots in a children's story from 1935 called Popo the Hippopotamus. As a young child, Ves was often read this classic book by his parents before going to bed. Written and illustrated in the same style as the Babar the Elephant series, Popo the Hippopotamus left quite an impression on Ves.
When his daughter Bulgari was born in 2010, and Ves was in the process of incorporating his cleaning company, the story of Popo the Hippopotamus began to re-enter his memory. It was Ves' remembrance of his childhood and desire to share the story of Popo the Hippopotamus with his daughter that lead to Clean Popo earning its namesake.
